Family Artists Residency Program*

This inaugural Family Artists Residency week is structured to maximize each parent artist’s creative time by nurturing their artistic spirit and voice, while simultaneously providing their children with supervised age-appropriate activities relating to the environment and region. Evenings allow family time to appreciate the wilderness surroundings and be together to reflect on their day. Optional time on the weekend provides the artist families the opportunity to interact with one another.

To give parent artists the personal time needed to deep dive into their work, we are partnering with Ely Minnesota’s Camp du Nord, part of the YMCA of The Greater Twin Cities Association, one of the largest YMCA Family Camps in the country. Morning camp activities range from hiking, canoeing, outdoor cooking, wilderness exploration, orienteering, group games, team building, and the arts. Lunch will be provided for the children, and afternoon activities could include trips to local Ely treasures, such as the International Wolf Center, The Bear Center, and the Dorothy Molter Museum.

Four cabins are available for this residency week. Three cabins are for single family residencies, and one cabin can hold two families if desired. Check out our cabins here.
